Janet Presson, R.N., M.Ed.
Janet Presson is the mother of a 30 year-old non-verbal son, Rob, who was diagnosed with autism shortly after 15 months of age. Janet has Bachelors degrees in both Psychology and Nursing and a Masters degree in Counseling. She was an Intelligence Analyst in the US Air Force for 6+ years and then became an RN. After working Pediatrics/ENT Surgical floor at a local hospital, she founded and was President of an agency providing Medicaid Waiver services for children and adults with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) throughout North Carolina. After 18 years, she sold the agency and semi-retired. She is now doing real estate investment, managing her vacation rentals in the mountains of North Carolina, volunteering as a school nurse for a local home school co-op, traveling the world, and running half-marathons. She is also on the board of directors for Special Olympics NC and has been active in that organization in several capacities. Janet has expertise in dietary, biomedical, and educational interventions for children with ID and is currently immersed in Spelling2Communicate, which has truly been a miracle for her son and
others. Janet shares our passion to build Home Life Community for our adults with Autism – a community that provides a forever family!
